Even when you take all possible precautions, things sometimes happen. If you do lose your passport or it is stolen, there are several steps you can follow to help ease your situation. It is always a good idea to travel with a photocopy of your passport documents as well as your passport, keeping these in separate places.

  • Report the loss or theft of your passport to the French Police. You’ll need to keep a hold of your Police report to get emergency travel documents, so please keep this safe.

  • Contact your Travel Insurance provider*. Some policies require that they are informed of a loss or theft within a short timeframe so make sure this has been reported.

  • If you are due to be travelling soon, call the UK embassy in the country you are in, for example in France on +33 1 44 51 31 00. They will be able to assist you and discuss what you need to do to get an Emergency Travel Document.

  • If you are not travelling immediately, you can apply for a new passport following the instructions on the Government website.

As always please contact our customer service team on info@nucotravel.com or via the live chat feature on the website or app to report any lost items or changes to travel options.

Please note it is a passenger's personal responsibility to ensure the safe keeping of their personal belongings including their passport. NUCO Travel will not be held liable for any costs incurred due to lost or stolen passports.

* If you have purchased one of the NUCO Travel Insurance policies these do offer cover for loss, damage or theft of Important Documents this includes passports, travel tickets, visas, travel permits, bio-metric cards and driving licences.

The intention of this cover is to help pay for travel and accommodation costs in getting to the embassy to obtain suitable replacements. You must check whether any temporary documentation will enable you to continue your planned trip.

Please note there are special conditions to this section, please do make sure to read this on page 29 and 30 of the insurance policy document that can be found here.
